Does it seem like every time you receive a statement from your credit card companies the interest goes up and the balance isn't much lower than last month?
That is why they are in business.
They start you off on a plan that gives you a charge limit of $5000 and an interest rate of next to nothing. Then once they see how much you love to charge they hike that interest rate right up. Next thing you know you have a $500 balance and an interest rate of 23.9%. You make your minimum monthly payment and the balance never seems to show a substantial decrease.
I have two words for you, Debt Consolidation.
Are you surprised? It is an option, it's not Bankruptcy and it does work.
Generally Debt Consolidation is for people who wouldn't be in their financial bind if wasn't for those high interest bearing credit card bills. Debt Consolidation gives you an opportunity to pay off those credit cards instead of just keeping them off your back.
The process is really quite simple: When you join a debt consolidation program they take all of your unsecured debt and put it into one low monthly payment. Now instead of paying six different bills you simply pay your counselor and they will take care of paying your creditors.
Usually interest rates can be brought down as low as six to seven percent. This will reduce the overall amount that you will have to pay back to your creditors. Your monthly payment will most likely be based on how much debt you have overall. Commonly the payment is something like 2% of your overall debt For instance, if you have $ 10,000 in debt your payment will probably be in the neighborhood of $200 a month for thirty-six to sixty months.
The point of Debt Consolidation is to help you to payoff your debt and still live a comfortable life. I would recommend going to a place that offers you a free consultation
Debt Consolidation may just be the perfect thing to give you the financial freedom you had in the first place, and it's not Bankruptcy. However, if the payment schedule that they offer you is unfeasible then you might want to consider consulting a Bankruptcy Attorney.
Julian Credit Management is a firm that practices exclusively in the area of Bankruptcy and Debt Consolidation and has offices in Clearwater (Pinellas County), Port Richey (Pasco County), Tampa (Hillsborough County), Lakeland (Polk County) and Orlando (Orange County).
